In addition to improving operational efficiency and cybersecurity, Honeywell and Google are exploring the use of Google's Gemini Nano model to enhance the intelligence of edge AI devices across various industrial use cases. These edge devices, capable of operating without internet connectivity, could pave the way for more intelligent, more autonomous operations in the field, reducing reliance on constant cloud-based data processing. Honeywell's Chief Technology Officer, Suresh Venkatarayalu, explained that the goal is to move from automation to autonomy. AI agents assist workers in real time on factory floors and in the field.
